Anatomic Girth

Anatomic Girth

This design is successful for ponies that have a forward girth spot and saddles that tend to slip up the neck. It is lined in very soft, supple English leather that resists cracking and is easy to clean, and features hidden elastic on both ends as well as stainless steel roller buckles. A strong elastic is used which helps hold the girth in place so the saddle is less likely to roll which can happen when a much softer elastic is used.

The anatomical shape of the girth sits forward, in between the ponies’ front legs in the forward girth grove or the ponies’ natural girth grove, this reduces pressure behind the elbow and gives more freedom of movement. The center of the girth is set forward and the sides of the girth are cut back to meet the girth straps two inches behind where the horse’s girth groove lies. This brings the girth straps from angling forward to becoming more perpendicular to the ground, which reduces the saddle’s tendency to be pulled forward onto the shoulders and also gives more room for elbow movement, and also helps prevents galls in the elbow area.

Please make sure that this girt is fastened symmetrical so if it is fastened on the second hole make sure it is fastened on the second hole on the other side, you can go 2-3 but never 2-4 as this can make the center sit uneven between the legs and possibly cause rubbing.
